“On a Wing and a Prayer” Restoration Appeal We need to make urgent repairs to the stonework of the church which is seriously suffering from the ravages of time, and its lovely position so close to the sea hasn’t helped where exposure to the extreme elements and heavy industry are concerned. We need to protect this place of worship and centre of our community to ensure it remains for generations to come.
The appeal has re-launched with hope and renewed enthusiasm, and we need your help! We have a large target to meet, £150,000, and although we hope some of this will come from grants, we still have a huge fundraising effort to make.
We plan to restore the building a wing at a time, which is why we have called our appeal “On a wing and a prayer”

We re-launched the appeal at the Easter Fayre with the release of three dove balloons to symbolize The Holy Trinity and fit the ‘wing and a prayer’ theme, followed by us all releasing our own balloons with our prayers and messages attached. It was a spectacular start to our campaign!

Rotary Grand Draw –
Hartlepool Rotary Club has organized a ‘big charity raffle’, with prizes totaling £1000! We are currently selling these tickets and are able to keep 90% of the proceeds for the Restoration Fund. So please sell some tickets, or at least buy a few for yourself. Draw closes 17th August so hurry hurry hurry!
Art Competition
We had a wonderful response to our art competition - thank you everyone for your entries.
Winners have been chosen, entries have been on display in the town centre, and the calendar is now on sale at church. Entries were auctioned at Seaton Cricket Club and we had a great time; the auction alone raised £480 for the Appeal so thank you to everyone and well done!
Sponsor a Stone!
A large focus of our appeal is asking people to “Sponsor a Stone”. You may wish to do so in memory of a loved one, in lieu of flowers for a funeral, or perhaps to mark a celebration - a birth, wedding, anniversary, or just as a way of giving thanks to God for the joys in your life.
One way to do this is a one-off donation, if you are able. Another would be a small, regular donation by standing order. You can make a dedication with your donation, and these will be displayed as a collage in the church, then archived in a time capsule as a real piece of history. Or you can remain anonymous if you prefer.
If you are interested in sponsoring a stone, or would like to volunteer your help with our fundraising events, or give us your ideas and support in any way, please contact Carol Cliffe
If you would like to join our merry band of helpers please contact any of the following:
Julie Cordiner, Jackie Hamilton, Anne Todd, Alan Brown, Father Paul, Margaret Hector, Pam Gretton.
